    • Construction sequence should be taken in to account when using grillage analysis of a steel concrete composite bridge.
    • Typically three different grillages will be adopted in the analysis; steel only, short term and long term.
    • This is to represent the change in stress during construction and operation.

      Points to consider..

      • Use skewed grillage for bridge decks with skewed reinforcement.
      • Use skew grillage when the skew of the bridge is less than 20°.
      • Use square grillage when the skew of the bridge is over 20°.
      • Square dimensions are ideal.
      • Ensure there are nodes where loads effects need to be generated.
